St Francis Xavier

Alfie's experience

On my first day at SFX I was excited for a fresh start but I also felt nervous.  I felt nervous because it was a new school and we hadn’t been able to visit for the induction day – but after the first day I felt confident for the next day ahead because everyone was really nice and showed us where to go.

Don’t worry about the teachers, they are not scary like you might think, they are normal teachers and make the learning clear and fun.  At the moment my favourite subjects are Art and RE.

If you ever feel worried about getting lost, don’t – the teachers will show you where everything is and the layout is easy to learn.  It might feel like a massive school compared to your primary, but when you get here it just feels like a normal school.  Also, if you are joining from a small school and don’t’ know many people, don’t worry because everyone made friends in the first week and no-one was lonely whatsoever.

At break you can get snacks in the dining hall, talk to your friends and just have fun.

So all in all, don’t stress out about moving to secondary school next year and enjoy your last year of primary school ! (I hope you get a full year …. I didn’t !!)
