SFX Home / School  Transport - Application Form

Following the Executive decision make by NYCC in March 2012 the NYCC Home to school and college transport policy states that, since September 2012 pupils starting a 'denominational' school, either secondary or primary, are not entitled to assistance with home to school transport and will not be able to purchase paid permits on existing transport from 2016.

This means that parents will be responsible for all transport arrangements and costs to denominational schools as the County Council will not arrange any transport after these dates.

See the latest letter from NYCC on post 16 transportSee the latest information leaflet on post 16 transport

There are however exceptions:

If the denominational school is nearer to the home address than the catchment school and the distance from home to school is over the walking distance of 3 miles.

This exception applies to home addresses that are roughly North East of SFX School, (Middleton Tyas, Barton, Melsonby, Alborough St John, North Cowton). Please contact NYCC transport eligibility team on 01609 780780.

Also where children receive free school meals, or whose parents receive the maximum level of working tax credit the county Council will provide assistance with transport to the nearest suitable school parents prefer because of their religion or belief: For secondary aged pupils where the distance from home to school is more than two miles but not more than 15 miles.

No “Pay on the Day” will be available.

Some areas are covered by public services run by Arriva, Dales and District, and Hodgsons.

Hodgsons cover the Barnard Castle route into Richmond. Currently SFX are unable to offer a service in this area.
