Home to school transport
Home to School Transport at St Francis Xavier
Following the Executive decision make by NYCC in March 2012 the NYCC Home to school and college transport policy states that, since September 2012 pupils starting a 'denominational' school, either secondary or primary, are not entitled to assistance with home to school transport and will not be able to purchase paid permits on existing transport from 2016.
This means that parents will be responsible for all transport arrangements and costs to denominational schools as the County Council will not arrange any transport after these dates.
There are however exceptions:
Free transport will be provided to secondary school pupils in years 7 to 11 to a denominational school where:
the school is over the statutory walking distance of three miles, and it is the nearest school to the home address.
If children receive free school meals or parents receive the maximum level of Working Tax Credit, transport will be provided for secondary school pupils in years 7 to 11 who go to:
the nearest denominational school, where that school is more than two but less than 15 miles from home.
