Thanks to a hard-working and efficient team of Covid-19 testers and its supporting admin staff, we were able to open our doors to all students by Tuesday morning.

  • Tuesday 23 February 2021 Love in the community A kind-hearted student from St Francis Xavier committed her half term to supporting her local community and living out our school ethos.Isobel who is in Year 8 worked with her local church youth group on a project focused on ‘Love of God, love of neighbour’ to show how everyone is loved. Parishioners knitted hearts and Isobel wrote messages of love and support on these and hid them around our local village for residents to find.She painted stones for a trail for the children in the village to follow as a half term activity.She also led an online youth service for the parish where she talked about ‘Love of God and Love of neighbour’.   • Wednesday 11 November 2020 CONTINUED ECO SUCCESS A 14-year old student, Mathilde, from St Francis Xavier School in Richmond, North Yorkshire, has written to her MP, Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, to ask him to visit the school and help her and fellow students progress their plans to be a zero carbon school (see her full letter below).She asks him to help the school increase biodiversity through more flower beds in and near the school, and by helping the school get hybrid or fully electric school buses.Mathilde, who is in Year 9 and part of the school’s Eco Team, is very passionate about the need to make changes at school in order to reduce the UK’s climate emissions. She’s been involved in eliminating single use plastics in the school, litter picking and bulb planting, and is a key Eco Team speaker at school and in the community.Rishi Sunak visited the school in 2019, the year the school won the 2019 Education Estates Award for Sustainability.

  • Thursday 24 September 2020 Virtual information evening success Following the success of our virtual open evening which can still be accessed via our school website, over 200 parents joined us on Monday evening for a virtual information session.Headteacher, Stuart McGhee led the sessions which were well received by prospective parents and students.
