The aims of our approach to quality assuring the quality of education at St. Francis Xavier School are as follows: 

• To gather a holistic picture of the learning that is taking place.
• To allow the curriculum leader to have a greater responsibility for their curriculum area, with a greater focus on departmental autonomy.
• To ensure we all have a shared understanding of what exceptional learning looks like 
• To quality assure the learning that is taking place 
  
• To identify training needs and CPD opportunities  
• To provide a picture of ‘typicality’ 
• To decrease teachers’ anxiety, workload, and worry over observation preparation 
• To give teachers an opportunity to have curriculum conversations to establish a ‘bigger picture’ of how the lesson fits into a concept, and how SEND and disadvantaged learners are supported with their learning.
• To listen to student voice. Conversations with students take place to ascertain the depth of substantive knowledge.

  


The QA process identifies areas of strengths and areas for further development within teaching and learning and the curriculum intent, implementation and impact. Curriculum leaders and teachers use this information to review what students know and remember to inform subsequent teaching and retrieval plans. This helps inform the leadership team on the overall quality of education across the school.
